The Art of Instrument Flying - The Instrument Landing System Approach |
By now, you’ve learned the skills necessary to navigate from VOR to VOR. The instrument landing system, or ILS, approach is the approach of choice when the ceiling or visibility is low. Unlike the VOR approach, the ILS provides an electronic glideslope, and the lateral precision is four times that of the VOR.
