From the EDITOR..
Welcome to the July 2003 issue and I hope your flight sim adventures have been enjoyable over the first half of the year. We start the second half of 2003 with another great round of content, including a special article on the Centenary of Flight. We may be celebrating 100 years of human flight, but did you know we are also celebrating around 25 years of simulated flight as well? Peter James has compiled a special article that looks at the development of both with an interesting timeline of events.
Also this issue, we feature the first article in our FS2004 coverage. Rod White looks at what we can expect in the next version of Microsoft’s Flight Simulator and for the edge-of –the-seat pilots amongst us, we present the third installment of our Unusual and Dangerous Approaches series. Another stack of challenging airports to test your skills and your wits! Doug Horton has an expansive article on Carrier Operations and Francois Dumas explores the world of real, and simulated glider flying.
Derek Davis has been busy on the combat front compiling a new series of articles for the fighter pilots which we will see in coming issues. He has also been in contact with the producers of Lock On and has been able to confirm an October release date for what looks to be the greatest combat fighter jet sim made to date. The wait is almost painful!
Please do enjoy this issue and remember, our email lines are always open for your suggestions and comments.
