 |
Flight Instructor |
Regardless of whether we are flying virtually or for real, having an engine failure is bound to ruin anyone’s day. The task at hand is to maneuver the aircraft and accompanying passengers down onto the ground in one piece, and as safely as possible. This of course requires practice by the pilot to ensure that their procedures and skills are at an acceptable level. Today’s article focuses on one of these lessons, the glide approach.

From the EDITOR..
Welcome to the September issue of Computer Pilot Magazine. Let me start by mentioning the new addition to the front cover of the magazine. On the front cover you will find a “Unique Download Code”. This code will provide access to part of the content designed to replace the Cover CD. On the Computer Pilot website you will find the “CP Interactive” section. Use the code on the front cover to access this “sealed section” of the website and access to relevant issue for additional downloads, information and links relating directly to articles in the magazine. Be aware that we are also working on a publicly accessible file download library online where developers can post their latest freeware releases. You will be able to download these without need for a code and there is no charge for this service. We hope to have this particular library up and running shortly. Note however, that it will take time to build up a good selection of downloads as freeware authors upload them to the site on an ongoing basis.
You can also expect more subtle changes to the style and content of the magazine as we run through our regular, and ongoing cycle of enhancements and improvements.
In this issue we have a great report on the International Flight Sim Convention held in the UK by Derek Davis as well as Doug Horton’s concluding article on mastering the basics of Air Traffic Control. There are reviews of the latest flight sim products including a unique insight into the process of creating ‘Megascenery’. As usual we have our regular in-depth flight lessons and a fantastic pull out poster to adorn your computer room wall.
